The Australian’s James Tubb reports on the rise in popularity of floor coveralls that are meant to provide protection from moisture and dampness on the boats, which is now becoming a major concern in the maritime industry.
He reports that there have been some concerns raised about the durability of the materials.
“They’ve been around for a while and they’ve had a lot of people trying them out and not a lot more research is needed,” he says.
“It’s really important that they have a good safety record.”
Tubb says there are still some barriers to getting the products onto the market.
“There’s still a lot to do before it becomes widespread,” he said.
“But it’s something we want to get on the market and that’s what we’re hoping to do with this report.”
