Posted September 28, 2018 08:01:50 A new study suggests that carpeting materials are safe and effective when used in accordance with the latest guidelines, according to a study from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The study, titled “Carpet Safety: An Assessment of the Available Data,” published in the journal Applied Energy, says the materials used to make carpeting are typically safe, durable and environmentally friendly.
The researchers said they found that the materials were not tested to see if they were able to withstand heat and moisture from the carpet flooring.
But they did find that materials such as the high-quality synthetic materials, PVC, and the absorbent polyester used in floor drains can withstand temperatures ranging from 40 degrees Fahrenheit (12 degrees Celsius) to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
Researchers say this is the first time a study has compared the carpeting to the most common types of floor drains.
For example, a PVC drain will be able to handle temperatures from 150 degrees Fahrenheit to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, the researchers said.
But researchers said this was not a true comparison because the PVC materials were only tested on carpets, which are made up of other materials such a wood or metal.
The carpet floor drain, they said, could withstand temperatures from 50 degrees Fahrenheit or more, as well as a heat-resistant carpet that can be used with PVC floor drains, or a synthetic carpet that could withstand a thermal stress that is much higher.
“We can’t prove that the carpet does not respond to thermal stress,” said researcher Eric Schmieder, an associate professor of materials science and engineering at the University of New Mexico.
But the results were good enough that they can help designers and homebuyers make an informed decision when choosing the materials that they are going to use.
The material’s benefits The researchers found that using the correct material can make a huge difference in the way the carpet feels, says Schmieser.
He says the PVC is an absorbent material that can absorb moisture and then evaporate, making the material much more durable than other materials that are used in the carpet.
He said this can make the carpet easier to remove, which can help to save money on floor drains that you might need to replace.
The synthetic materials absorb heat and the moisture, so that the synthetic material has a high heat conductivity, which means it is much more water-resistant than other types of carpet.
And the absorbents are very flexible, meaning they can bend or twist to make the floor drain work in the same way as other types.
The fibers are so thin, the absorbant can be removed and reused, making it an ideal choice for floor drains because it is flexible, Schmierser said.
He noted that the absorbency of these materials is so good, that a carpet floor can last for 10 years.
The materials used are also recyclable, meaning the materials are recycled, Schmieres said.
The new study found that if a manufacturer uses the correct materials, they can produce a carpet that has a surface that is less prone to cracking and damage from the heat and humidity.
This is the case even when the manufacturer uses PVC floor drain that has been used for years.
For instance, if the manufacturer does not make the synthetic floor drain and uses the real material, they would have to replace the entire carpet because the synthetic one is now no longer strong enough to support it, Schmeri said.
That could be expensive because the real carpet can be expensive, but it would help the manufacturer reduce the price of the carpet by saving them money, Schmuters said.
Schmier said it’s important to use the correct product, and that carpet manufacturers should do their research before they choose materials.
They should look at the cost and durability of the materials, the type of carpet that is being used and other factors, he said.
“The bottom line is, make sure you have the right materials,” he said, adding that carpet companies can take a closer look at their materials and determine what materials are actually safe and good to use in their floor drains for maximum durability.
“If they are making a synthetic floor, and they have no knowledge of what that material is supposed to look like, then you might be surprised to find out that the material might not be safe,” Schmiener said, noting that some synthetic floor drains are not as durable as the real ones.
“It is better to have a synthetic material that is stronger than the real one.”
